The DRV8825PWPR and DRV8818PWPR use the PCB to cool the device. Assuming there is enough copper on the board, the connection to the back of the IC should be sufficient. If your customer is interested, the DRV8825EVM and DRV8818EVM are available for evaluation of the device.
