I believe the application would be looking to detect a mechanical stop or increased torque, it seems like DRV8711 might be able to do just that, however it does not seem to have AutoTune™ like DRV8880 and DRV8886AT do, I might suggest to look into our Hall Effect sensors for this application.
In regards to DRV8886AT, is there any other advantage for the Current Sense than besides eliminating the need for two external power sense resistors?
