The SpdCtrl setting actually can't be substituted into Equation 7. SpdCtrl is the digital representation of the duty cycle where 0x01FF (511) corresponds to 100% duty cycle (see 9.3.3 in the datasheet for more details on motor speed control). The MotorSpeed1 and MotorSpeed2 registers will be updated automatically while the motor is spinning. These registers, which are read only, are used with Equation 7 to read the speed.
The DRV10983 has a recommended electrical frequency up to 1000 Hz so it should be able to handle your motor RPM requirements.
