1. Can I use DRV8711 Booster pack with changes to TORQUE register??
Yes, but you may run into over temperature issues if you push the current much higher than 4.5A full scale. Depending on your requirements, the motor can be run at less than full torque, or can be evaluated for short periods of high current to avoid over temperature.
2. Should I consider a resistor in series with low side output and the gate of low side FET (As mentioned in Pg.29 of the datasheet).
Yes, but please evaluate the design without the resistor. The resistor is recommended if you are experiencing low side predriver faults. If you add the resistor, please adjust the dead time also.
