Dear Ladies and Gentleman,
The electric motor, a customer gave us, looks like the motor in the patent US 7,598,646 B2 (www.google.ch/.../US7598646)
and comprises the following parts:
a) a first plurality of permanent magnets arranged in a first Halbach array, wherein the first plurality of magnets is configured to provide a first magnetic field that substantially exhibits a first Halbach flux distribution;
b) a first plurality of electromagnets comprising a first plurality of coils arranged in a second Halbach array.
The Halbach array is a special formation of magnets used to guide the magnetic fields to create a strong sinusoidal magnetic field below the array while nearly cancelling the magnetic fields above the array.
A basic Halbach array is made of 5 magnets: http://cegt201.bradley.edu/projects/proj2004/maglevt1/halbachbe.html
How to control this Halbach electromagnetic motor with the DRV8305N 3-Phase Motor Drive BoosterPack Evaluation Module combined with InstaSPIN-FOC enabled C2000 Piccolo LaunchPad?
A basic array enables to drive a motor in both directions (see image below).
The 3 phase motor has a total of 36 Halbach array electromagnetic cores (effectively 18 vertical primary electromagnetic cores) to enable the unidirectional and magnified Halbach Array effect.
Can I use 3 electro magnets for each direction? Or do I have to connect only two electro magnets for each direction?
Best Regards,
Murat Topcu
