Hi adam,

Due to the absence of external gate resister in smart driver Rghi and Rglo places major roles.we need to know the value of Rghi and Rglo for DRV8353 with respect to various gate current settings to estimate power losses in Mosfet and loss in the driver. kindly share the those data.

Thanks,

Vignesh

HI,

currently i'm doing mosfet loss calculation for MOSFET in B6 bridge. while calculating switching loss i need to know the the gate resistance of the mosfet. TI suggesting not to use the gate resistance for smart gate driver then how to calculate switching loss of the mosfet. please share any document to help me on this.

thanks,

RE: CCS/DRV2625: DRV2625 can drive 2 AAC LRA ?

Hi, Lawrence,

We recommend to use 1 LRA in order to get the best performance. In addition, closed-loop mode only can be used with 1 LRA load. For additional details, please take a a look at the following E2E thread (it is for the DRV2605, but it applies for this device too): e2e.ti.com/.../2555599

I will need to make some test in our evaluation module in order to confirm that this effect can be achieved. I'm not in the office these days, but I will make the tests on March 20th. I will let you know my results as soon as possible.

Best regards,
Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

DRV8832: Output voltage behaviour not right

Part Number: DRV8832

Hello,

I am using the DRV8832 in a minimal setup with ISENSE pulled low and VREF connected to VSET to disable current limit and drive the motor at maximum voltage. VCC is 5V decoupled with 2 x 0.1µF capacitors.

IN1 is pulled high and on IN2 applied is a PWM signal with 50% duty-cycle and 100Hz (red). The output voltage on OUT2 (yellow) looks like this (2V / 5ms):

Normally a 44.5 kHz output-signal would be expected but there is clearly something wrong.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Regards

Daniel

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I bought a EEVM 2 months ago and just can't get it to work since; this despite help from TI engineer. Just cannot install the software. Instruction manual does not help e.g. where it says install from web or install from file, I tried both options separately - no luck. Then when it gives 4 options to check (fig 16) I get only get 3, the last one launch I just don't get. So I end up with the icon on my desktop which doesn't work; when clicked it asks for the exe file and that's the end of it! Does anyone know how this works?

DRV8301: "Universal" GUI doesn't work

Part Number: DRV8301

Hello,

I recently downloaded the Universal GUI for instaSPIN. Before installing, it asked me whether I wanted to Uninstall the previous version of the GUI (bought this kit about 4 years ago - finally using it), and I answered "yes". The installation got hung up, so I eventually hit the "Cancel" button. Tried running it anyway and saw a really ugly GUI. So, I figured I'd re-install it, but to save some time I'd run the uninstallers in the gui composer folder. They are 'uninstall_ti_dspack.exe' and 'uninstall_ti_emupack_5.1.641.0.exe'. I reinstalled the Universal GUI program (successfully this time), but I still have the ugly GUI. The following messages appear on the Configuration page:

Restarting Program Model...
Initializing target : C:\ti\guicomposer\eclipse\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\com.ti.binding.program\appConfig.ccxml
Loading program: null
sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.WrappedException: Wrapped java.lang.NullPointerException (<Unknown source>#18) in <Unknown source> at line number 18Restart Completed.

I've attached a Screenshot of the GUI.

Any ideas what I might need to do to get this running?

Thanks,

Dave Reagan

Hi Experts,

Our customer is evaluating our DRV8833 with a brushed DC motor using our EVM, and found that it will observe a large reverse current in Break/Slow decay mode as below picture shown, can you help to check why it will happen? Thanks a lot!

Let me verify in lab whether brake actually happens. I'll get back to you on tueday.

DRV10970: Direction Reversal Operation in Trapezoidal mode of Commutation

Part Number: DRV10970

I am using DRV10970 for precision speed control of a three phase BLDC motor (FaullHauber 2610B). According to my understanding of the datasheet, when you switch/toggle the FR pin state, the motor first brakes and then reverses. However, in "8.4.1.1 Trapezoidal Control Mode", it is stated that  "In the trapezoidal control mode, the DRV10970 device drives standard six step commutation sequence based on the Hall input states and FR (direction) pin value." along with the truth table. [Ref : SLVSCU7A, Pg 17, 8.4.1.1]

Is the trapezoidal mode an exception for the FR operation, where changing the FR state directly changes the commutation sequence irrespective of the BRKMOD state.

Hello,

Our automotive gate drivers are typically designed for AEC-Q100 Grade 1 (-40°C to 125°C ambient operating temperature) or Grade 0 (-40°C to 150°C ambient) qualification.

Does your device need to be automotive-qualified, or is temperature the primary requirement for your system? Are there any other key specs/functions you're looking for when selecting the device?

Thanks,
Garrett

Part Number: DRV8806

I need a SPI-controlled buck-regulator with an output ranging from 12V to 24V with 0.5V step resolution.  The input voltage is 28V and the max load is 1.5A.  I also need a second buck regulator with a fixed 7VDC output with a max load of 0.5A.   Will the DRV8806PWPR do the trick ?  If not, what solution would you recommend ?

Hi Ramakrishna,

The DRV8870, DRV8871, or DRV8872 may be a good choice if you only need 1 H bridge.

These devices have additional protection features like overcurrent, undervoltage and overtemperature.

RE: limp home circuit

Hello,

Can you let us know the know the conditions which will trigger limphome mode?

One example condition that could trigger limphome mode in BCMs is MCU failure. In this case, a watchdog is used to detect the MCU failure and then watchdog output + some logic can then be used to drive the load. See below block diagram that illustrates this concept.

See this note (http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snva837/snva837.pdfabout how watchdog output can be latched in order to drive the load.

Hey Bui,

Let me get back to you in the middle of the week. I looked at the video briefly and my only comment is that I wish auto refresh was enabled on tje display tab, so I could see what is going on in real time in the GUI as you increase the speed.

DRV10983-Q1: Current limit when run close loop at low speed

$

Part Number: DRV10983-Q1

hello experts,

I have own a DRV10983Q1EWM to evaluate my motor. From help from this forum, I can do open loop and close loop control very well.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/motor-drivers/f/38/t/773710

However, I got stuck at current limit alarm, and the driver will automatically shutdown the motor and restart gain when over current. Even the current is not high

I make a report file, but can not attach. So that I would like to past its content here:

I have some questions:

1. Speed motor report may not exactly. What should I do? may I ignore it?

2. why driver alarm Current limit while actual current is lower than its threshold?

Best regards,

My  report file as below:

Picture 1: motor speed report may not exactly, it is far from the true. Over current is happened always at speed setting 280Hz. If increase speed setting to 300Hz, motor will shutdown automatically.

Picture 2: driver configuration

Picture 3: driver configuration

Picture 4: current waveform at phase V of the motor using current sensor ACS712ELC-05B. Voltage output 0à5V corresponding linearly with current input -5A à 5A (zero ampere mean 2.5V output).

From the wave form, we can see that the current is under 1A (the external digital monitor is also show that the average current is 0.8A). But the driver alarm Limit current even driver can run at 2A RMS, 3A max.
