DRV8873: HPWPR

Part Number: DRV8873

Hi team,

The customer has the following questions:

1. During the test, the chip was always broken occasionally and could not be used again. Please help to analyze whether there was a problem in the peripheral circuit design.

2. During the test, it was detected that the surface temperature of the motor drive chip reached 91℃. Is the temperature inside the chip already overheated? And cause chip damage

3. pwm_out1 is the control PWM output by MCU, and pwm_back is the PWM returned by the motor drive chip. In the test process, when pwm_out1 is 100% duty cycle, the maximum load current is occasionally 5A, generally about 4A. However, the overcurrent protection threshold is set to 6A. In this case, the nfault2 foot is pulled down by about 70ms in a cycle.This will not damage the chip because of overcurrent protection too many times.

Could you help to resolve the case? Thanks!
Best Regards,
Cherry

Hi team,

My customer Yanfeng Technology is evaluating our DRV8718SQ1 and I have applied EVM for them, while we do not see the typical application reference schematic design. Could you please help to provide us some DRV8718Q1 typical application and schematic for customer reference? Since there are some parameters values are missing and we may need some detailed typical schematic design for customer use, so we need your help for this, thank you very much!

DRV8323R: Motor making sound noise

Part Number: DRV8323R

Hello,

We are using DRV8323RS with 1 PWM mode. From our design we are able to run a BLDC motor, but from the same design we are running a different BLDC motor then it is running but it is making sound noise. And we have noticed one more thing, for the same duty cycle of PWM there is speed difference of around 10-20 RPM in Clockwise and anticlockwise and sound difference is also there.

So, what parameter I can change for Resolving this issue?

For your reference I am attaching Phase waveform image and video of rotating motor.

Thanks in advance

Part Number: DRV8803

Hi Team,

The customer are using DRV8803 in one our project for low side drive to control fan and recently found the system shows fault error .Based on the datasheet tocp deglitch time 3.5microsec.

Can you help to explain on peak /rms current duration ? They are driving 2 fans in each chip with fan rated current 560mA.

Please reference the fan for peak current waveform and schematic as below. It seems the fault not trigger even peak current 2.52A for 560microseconds. Thank you.

Mike

Alternative to Allegro part number A3938

Would you be able to recommend a best-fit alternative to Allegro part number A3938? We are using the REF input on the A3938 to control the motor, versus the PWM input. So that method/feature of setting the load current would be essential to minimize software impact.

I evaluated the DRV8306 but it does not have that current control feature.

I have developed a new board used to driver BLDC, It mainly used DRV 8350  and  MSP430F5529,  but I don't use the onboard emulator but use the EZ_FET emulator from LP-MSP430FR2476 DEVEOPMENT kit. when debugging ,I only use the SBWTDIO / SBWTCK  and  GND. During Online debugging it is normal ,the motor can run as I want ,everything is ok. but after disconnect  EZ fet emulator, and repower the board, The board needs to RESET to run. Why?

DRV8830: Drive status during a stall condition

$

Part Number: DRV8830

Hello,

In the datasheet of the IC in question (DRV8830) we have section 7.3.3, specifically bellow quoted paragraph which describes the driver behaviour during a stall event.

If the current limit condition persists for some time, it is likely that a fault condition has been encountered, such as the motor being run into a stop or a stalled condition. An overcurrent event must persist for approximately 275 ms before the fault is registered. After approximately 275 ms, a fault signaled to the host by driving the FAULTn signal low and setting the FAULT and ILIMIT bits in the serial interface register. Operation of the motor driver will continue

It is unclear to me though if the driver remains functional, thus pumping current into the DC motor, after the stall event is detected.
The last afirmation "Operation of the motor driver will continue."  seems to indicate so, but does it refer to the driving stage (H-bridge) being automatically switched-off after stalling detection occurs?

DRV110: Out pin duty cycle less than 1%

Part Number: DRV110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC37322

I'm using the DRV110 in a design to drive a 120VDC solenoid in Peak and Hold operation.

When I increase the I_hold set point, the OUT gives me something that I don't expect: A long pulse followed by many very short pulses (less than 1 us) at 20kHz.

Is there a reason for this duty cycle of less than 1%  It does not seem to agree with the datasheet.

In the pictures below, yellow is OUT and Green is the voltage between the solenoid and Mosfet as shown in the schematic below

Hi, support team

My customer has the questions as follow:

when I try to connect it goes out and tries but comes back with "cannot read address 0x20AA" then disconnects.
What can I do? It seems like the 430 isn't wanting to talk. D6 is red
the other side of the board shows a fault LED. D2

Thanks so much.

I'd like to know about the recovery time of nFault pin.

In the case of the auto-recovery fault such as UVLO,
how long does it take for the nFault pin to be Hi-Z after the state is restored?

Hello,

I currently have a UC2637N and I was looking at the datasheet. I found this photo/diagram:

...

Now...I was thinking that this driver could be used as is/without another motor driver. Is this a fact or was I confused?

And where it states in the photo/diagram "Speed Control," am I supposed to supply a knob of some kind or is that just referencing what it actually is doing?

Seth

P.S. I am trying to use this driver, the UC2637N while testing, w/ a BeagleBone Black or other familiar board from beagleboard.org.

Dear Sir/Ms.

We introduced DRV3255-Q1 to customers before. Because product specifications do not require such high power, BU recommends us to introduce DRV3245-Q1 to customers. When discussing with the customer just now, he mentioned that his product needs to support ASIL-D.

Did DRV3245-Q1 support ASIL-D?

BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM: Simple setup: PWM from Launch Pad to BOOST outputs

$

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F28027F, MOTORWARE

Is there a simple way to set up the BOOST module to be a 'power version' of the PWM outputs from the LAUNCHXL-F28027F?

That is, I just need (at least one) PWM output (perhaps a complementary pair) from the LAUNCH module to be reflected in (at least one of) the outputs from the BOOST module - just like implementing a high-side and low-side driver pair.

I don't need all the facilities in the MOTORWARE package, which seem very complicated to get started with.

Thanks!

Roger

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F280025C, DRV8323, CSD88599Q5DC

Hello,

I am using the BBOOSTXL-DRV8323RS + LAUNCHXL-F280025C om the Universal Lab Code.

Basically, It is triggering the Module Overcurrent  Flag @ 2.78A (phase current).

 I checked the drv settings:

    drvicVars_M1.ctrlReg05.bit.VDS_LVL = DRV8323_VDS_LEVEL_1P700_V;

    drvicVars_M1.ctrlReg05.bit.OCP_MODE = DRV8323_AUTOMATIC_RETRY;

    drvicVars_M1.ctrlReg05.bit.DEAD_TIME = DRV8323_DEADTIME_100_NS;

    drvicVars_M1.ctrlReg06.bit.CSA_GAIN = DRV8323_Gain_10VpV;

    drvicVars_M1.ctrlReg06.bit.LS_REF = false;

    drvicVars_M1.ctrlReg06.bit.VREF_DIV = true;

    drvicVars_M1.ctrlReg06.bit.CSA_FET = false;

 It looks like just the VDS level is set for 1.7V, I tried the 1.88V (maximum), and it still triggering @ 2.78A (phase current).

 My target is to run @ 5A per phase.

Can you help me?

Product packaging for DRV8424RGER

Hello there,

Would like to ask if there is a change on the packaging requirement for DRV8424RGER this year. We have received parts in both  MSL 2 (vacuum packed T&R packaging - date code early 2021) and MSL 1 (non-vacuum sealed T&R packaging - date code 2132). The current datasheet mentioned the parts should be MSL 1 but we were not able to find a PCN mentioning the change. Please help to advise.

Thank you.

DRV8703-Q1: DRV8703-Q1 : Why VDS(OCP) status register bit act differently if IN1 PWM frequency has been changed

$
0
0
Part Number: DRV8703-Q1

We plan to control our actuator using MODE '0' first

and use 2 mode(Reverse, Forward) only

so, IN2 is fixed as '1' and IN1 will receive 80[khz] PWM frequency to control actuator

but in this phase If I change IN1 frequency, then VDS register bit act differently in the same voltage input like below

-80[khz] PWM input (voltage condition 16[v], actuator current 1.5[A/channel], there are 4 channel)

- 30[khz] PWM input

VDS register bit is set sensitively if receive lower PWM input even if in same voltage and same actuator current environment

There's only one different thing. PWM frequency.

We are planning to design fail safe concept by using this register information, so we have to know the root reason thoroughly

Can I know the reason why?

Part Number: DRV8350H-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529

 Hello.

I have designed a new developed board. It can run in the sensored control algorithm. but during  the sensorless controled algorithm, It can run several circles but eventually it stopped ,

I just followed the sensorless controled instructions from below and adjusted the parameters . at last , It still can not run normally. So How to tune motor parameter precisely and finally run the motor?

DRV8350x-EVM Sensorless Software User's Guide (ti.com)

From TI schematic of the DRV8350H-EVM, these capacitors are DNP, but in my schematic it is populated. Would it influence the voltage acquisition so influence the motor run in sensorless control algorithm?

Waiting for your answer.
