Part Number: MCT8316Z

Hi, I am trying to use the MCT8316Z with a supply above 24v.  It works fine until about 27v, then the buck out drops from 5v to aprox 2v and I get a bulk faults condition.  The bulk is supplying 3 hall effects sensors in the motor.  The datasheet says  the MCT8316 has a 40v absolute maximum capability.   I was hoping to run it at 35v.

HI,

Using the DRV8210 but like to save GPIOpins , is it possible to both set supply VCC, MODE and EN pins at the same time from same GPIO pin and just before doing that also select PH high or low for forward or reverse of the motor.

I'm new to how ripple counting works. I'm trying to replace an encoder in my system. I was wondering if I can rotate the motor shaft, then get a read on the angle im rotating using ripple counting. Is that possible?

DRV8873-Q1: selection between TPS54201 and DRV8873-Q1 to control a peltier module.

Part Number: DRV8873-Q1

Hi,

I have question on this two setup to control a peltier module.

We would like to maintain the temperature of a DUT 40 degree celsius. So for example if the DUT goes above 50 degrees we would like to cool it down to 40 degrees back, if it go to 30 degrees we would like to heat it back to 40 degrees. May I know which are solution are more suitable for my applications?  It seem like both of the IC are using PWM input. Can help if there any others reading material on peltier module would be helpful.

thank you and best regards

Also, what is the resistance value of the internal current detection?

DRV8256: Itrip accuracy

Part Number: DRV8256

Team,

My customer is thinking to use DRV8256 between 0.1A ~ 0.5A. I have some questions here;

1. Does DRV8256 have capability to drive BDC motor at such small current?
2. If yes, what is Itrip accuracy between 0.1A ~ 0.5A? There are Itrip accuracy information in the electrical characteristics table but no information less than 0.5A.

Thanks,
Nobuhiko Wasa

  1. Past track record of this defect (short between GHS-SHS)
  2. Estimated cause of this event (FTA, design FMEA)
  3. TI's opinion on the estimated cause

Please investigate the above. Deadline: May 21th

Also, I believe we will need to request an investigation into the IC alone regarding the estimated cause, so we appreciate your cooperation at that time.

Hi,

  • I am struggling to get the stepper motor to draw the full scale current of 5A when TRQ_DAC is 0b111111 and enabled the internal voltage reference.
  • I am using the TI DRV8462 GUI and did enabled internal voltage reference and modified the full scale current to be 5A
  • Stepper Motor :  https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/p-series-ip65-waterproof-nema-24-stepper-motor-5-0a-3nm-424-92oz-in-24ip65-30
  • Got to a point where I ran the custom current settings and got it to draw 2.5A but motor does not move just stays in place and vibrates the unit the stepper is mounted on.
  • Tried different modes ie slow decay, 60 decay, smart tune etc
  • I have two 12LFP21 Drypower LiFePO4 batteries connected in series so has more than enough power available.

Kind regards,

DRV8876: DRV8876QPWPRQ1 short-circuit

Part Number: DRV8876

 Hi

1. It is found that PIN10 and PIN11 of the faulty DRV8876 are short-circuited, that is, OUT2 and VM are short-circuited, and the voltage drop of PIN10 and PIN11 tubes is also measured to be 0. Other peripheral circuits are normal, other devices are not burned, the system can work normally after replacing the new device

2, failure time software record file analysis: no exception, can not analyze the cause of failure

Please refer to the failure information in the document and help confirm the cause

thank you

DRV8305: DRV8305N used in In-phase current sense application.

Part Number: DRV8305

Hello,

I am using DRV8305N in my Motor Control Application.

So far I was using Low-Side Current sensing and integrated CSA's in DRV8305N.

Now I redesigned a little my project to have external CSA (INA241) and In-Phase Shunt resistors

It was only this change, current sensed by INA seen at ADC is corrected (checked it), but DRV is giving errors/damaging.

This is stragne because nothing apart way of current sensing changed and current sensing itself is workign correctly looking at the ADC valuse.

I have SNx/SPx Inputs left floating and all SL_x (so source of low-side) are now (in case of lack of low-side shunts) tied to GND like in the picture:

Can DRV work in that configuration? I am debugging the problem but maybe some has some suggestion what could be the problem?

Adam

DRV8889-Q1: accuracy control issues

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1

   HI :

We are now using DRV8889 to drive a bipolar stepper motor, which is used in HUD products. When the motor drives the reflector to move back and forth multiple times, there will be accuracy control issues. Please help analyze from the perspective of the DRV8889 driver chip, which factors are related to it?

We now default to using 100% current full step (two-phase excitation)The step frequency is 500Hz.

DRV8353RS-EVM: DRV8353RS Custom board is not working

Part Number: DRV8353RS-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8353

Hi,

I'm having some trouble with the gate driver DRV8353RS it is failing after level 2, this is happening during bring-up with no-load of NEMA 17 24V 4000RPM BLDC motors.

1. First we connected the NEMA 17 24V 4000RPM BLDC motors, There is no consistency in  motor running sometimes running and sometimes not running, motor was running only at 30V not 24V. Finally ,Resistance estimation is not correct because same 24V tested in Drv8353 EVM board
it was fine and running smooth. But right now the custom board we are facing this kind of issues.

2. During code flashing/debugging, DRV8353RS fault red LED gets suddenly ON and overcurrent faults is 1. Also DRV8353RS IC is getting heated during this condition.

3. Build_LEVEL_1 setup meets as per expectation but Drv8353 chip is continuously failing. Even we tried change the IDRIVE current setting from IDRIVEP_HS = 0.010A to IDRIVEP_HS = 1.000A no change in response and still Drv8353 chip is failing in custom board.

Requesting to you please arrange a call or meeting to discuss in detail.

This is very urgent for us please help.

MCT8316Z: What to do with pins FB_BK and SW_BK

$

Part Number: MCT8316Z

Dear TI

We are using the MCT8316ZR BLDC Motor Driver.

The Buck regulator is disabled. We supply the pull up resistor for FGOUT and the Hall sensors with AVDD. According to the datasheet, the pins FB_BK and SW_BK and not let floating, even if the internal buck regulator is disabled. Now my question: What do you suggest to connect to these two pins? Can we work with the resistor mode? So we would just have to connect a resistor and a capacitor?

DRV8214: Using multiple DRV8214 on the same design

Part Number: DRV8214

Dear all,

I am wondering if there is anything stopping people from using multiple DRV8214 on the same microcontroller, except running out of i2c slave addresses.

In that case, what would be the optimal way to monitor the position and stalling of all motors in real-time? Would it be possible to use only the i2c bus, or are n_fault, ipropi, and rc_out required from each?

DRV8702-Q1: duty cycle between 90% and 100%

$

Part Number: DRV8702-Q1

Hello Team,

what would be the resolution of the PWM between 90% and 100%?

Is there a restriction on minium off-time in our gate drivers?

We know that some architecture when achieving 90% duty cycle they skip directly to 100% but this in some application critical.

So, do we have more description about the behavior between 90% and 100% duty cycle for DRV8702?

Many Thanks

Josef

DRV8231: Is Fast Decay going to rise the VM?

$

Part Number: DRV8231

Hello team,

I have read App note: Current Recirculation and Decay Modes.

And current is going to flow from GND to VM in Fast Decay mode.

I am assuming that the VM is going to rise because current is back flowing into VM (switching regulator).
Is my assumption correct?

If VM is going to rise when using Fast decay, is it going to damage the switching regulator of VM?
How can I protect it? Should I insert clamping diode between VM and GND?

Part Number: DRV8316C-Q1

Hello.

Could you provide more detail on this datasheet parameter please?

Peak Output Winding Current = 8A.

Is that 8A RMS over a specific time interval?  Or is that continuous?

Thanks
