An undervoltage condition should not damage the device directly. It could indirectly if the event causes PVDD to exceed the absolute maximum voltage.
Is it possible to create the same event at a lower voltage and monitor the PVDD voltage when this occurs? If you see a large voltage spike that could indicate the undervoltage was a contributing factor.
