DRV110: Understand Peak current allowed

I am looking to use the DRV110 to drive a solenoid. Ideally it would be able to support up to 3A's for peak operation, and reduce to about 0.5A for holding. Is this something the DRV110 is capable of? I understand based on the datasheet that the peak and hold current are adjustable, but the datasheet does not provide what the "maximum" current control is. The only design constraints I see are that Rpeak and Rhold have to be greater than 66.67kohms and Rsense has to have at least 30mA through it. Can Rsense be less than 1 ohm?
