Hello,
Is there a way to back calculate the die junction temperature from taking a top-side package measurement?
We are seeing a peak temp of 108oC during operation.
Here is the thermal data from the datasheet:
Thank you, Keith

I am trying to tune the Speed PI controller, but I would like to have real time reads of the Manipulated Variable of the controller. I guess it is the duty cycle of the PWM input signal. Does the LDO/Buck out have anything to do with the excitation signal I need?
Hello,
We were just wondering how the Vgls regulator works because it has the potential to damage our FETs. The datasheet does spec Vgls for VM > 12V... Our VM can go up to 35V and we want to ensure the Vgls doesn't go over 20V...
I saw another thread where a similar question was asked 5 years ago but no one answered.

Dear support,
i´ve got a question about the DRV8251EVM.
When the dc motor is running (foreward or backward) and i switch to break or coast, the supply voltage (yellow) is drifting away.
The voltage peak is around 5 volts and causes the DRV8251 to stop working (motor is not running but i can measure pwm at IN1 and IN2). I have to cycle power to get it back running.
This also happens when i use the internal pwm module on the drv8251evm.
Supply voltage is 12 V and the dc motor draws around 1.4 to 1.6 Amps.
I use pwm signals from an external microcontroller. The frequency is around 31 kHz.
Is there anything wrong with my supply voltage or is the dc motor just to big for the drv8251?
best regards
Julian
Hi TI support
Does DRV2605 support boot buzz when the mobile is still not power on?
By that time, no calibration, no I2C clock, could we send waveform through I2C and vibrate?

Hello Experts,
After following the steps mentioned in the Driver Installation Instructions of DRV8846 evaluation board, when I click on the C:\ti\guicomposer\webapps\DRV8846EVM_GUIv1.0\launcher.exe file, I got the following Error message:
For your information, I have copied both the following orange marked folder to “C:\ti\guicomposer\webapps” folder.
sllc446a\DRV8846EVM_GUIv1.0\DRV8846EVM_GUIv1.0
sllc446a\Application\Firmware\DRV8846EVM_v1p0_firmware\DRV8846EVM_v1p0
In addition, I am using Windows 10.
Could you please help me to solve the issue?
I wish you a nice day.
Best regards
Nusrat
I amtrying to drive a 3 phase BLDC motor using BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH EVM Board. The motor runs smoothly when INHA pin is fed an analog voltage via onboard potentiometer pot.
When I supply the voltage to INHA Pin via Arduino PWM the motor rotates with a rough noise. Only when PWM Duty cycle approaches close to 90% does the motor show smooth rotation.
(Arduino freq is 490 Hz).
Please shed some light on the cause and probable rectifications. Thank You.
We observed that our current firmware for the DRV2605L chip was not working with DRV2605 chip. On investigation we found that the following three registers are being set to 0 whenever we are trying to trigger a vibration using the internal trigger mechanism using the GO bit. We are talking to the DRV2605 chip using an I2C interface:
Once we set these registers before triggering the GO bit we are able to see the vibrator motor function as expected.
Q1. Could you let us know by contacting the SMEs if this behavior is expected ?
Q2. Are we fixing this problem correctly by writing these registers before we trigger the GO bit ?
Hi Team,
1. In the Fstep of the timing requirement, I want to confirm whether it is a PWM clock, so the requirement for DRV8825 is below 250Khz?
2. As shown in the diagram, is the step size controlled by mode 0~3?
Signals and controls for this part of Decay Mode & DIR?
3. It may be troublesome to provide EVM circuit/BOM (especially if there is a Prefer motor coil)
Hello, I have a problem with rotating motor using MCT8316AEVM. I was able to drive a motor with analog input and I2C input modes. However, I could not start rotating a motor with PWM input and frequency input modes. I used a function generator(FG) to send a signal. I connected a positive pole of FG to SPEED_IN pin and a negative pole of FG to SPEED pin. Could you tell me whether it is wrong or not? Thank you.
Hi team,
Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:
After power-up, the chip is not able to startup properly, the measured pin DVDD, AVDD,GVDD are all 0V. The customer would like to know what's the possible reason for that?
The schematic is as follows:
Thanks.
Best Regards,

I've read the datasheet and cannot see anything about how often the driver will respond to updates. Is it 10Hz? 100Hz?
How often can it change the output power?
Hope my question is clear. Thanks.
Hello,
I am currently using the DRV8303EVM with the InstaSPIN BLDC sensorless control algorithms to drive a motor, but am wanting to use Hall sensors to do sensored control.
However, when plugging a Hall sensor into the DRV8303EVM board, I am seeing a very noisy signal.
The below image is what I am seeing when using an oscilloscope probe whilst spinning the motor using the DRV8303EVM board
Is there any on-board signal filtering that I could use?
Thank you,
David
Hi Team, seeking some clarifications.
1. Can DRV8873 control a step motor as DRV8833 (see below block diagram)? Or equivalently is it 2 legs (pair with upper and down MOSFET, see below block diagram) or 4 legs like DRV8833?
DRV8833 (4 x 4 = 16 heaters per board)
DRV8873 (4 x 2 = 8 heaters per board)
2. If 4 legs, can DRV8873 (pin 14, 15, 18 and 19) be controlled for each leg like DRV8833? From the Table 7-23, it looks like being able control each leg respectively
3. Look like both mode EN/IN1 and PH/IN2 as well as mode PWM can apply PWM signals up to 100KHz but how about the independent mode, what type of control signal will be?
4. If question 2 can control each of four outputs individually, how to control each one output with only two control pins as EN/IN1 and PH/IN2? Or control 4 outputs individually through SPI port?
Thank you in advance for your inputs.

1. The customer considers to control two groups of DRV2605 with the same i2C which depends on the control of the DRV2605 EN pin
. According to the datasheet description, when one DRV2605 EN pin is set low, it will not respond to the I2C signal.
I don't know if this method is feasible.
2. The customer reported that when the DRV2605 started to start the LRA motor,
the power supply voltage VDD of the DRV2605 had too high Ripple. Is this normal?
Is there anything that can be done to improve this phenomenon?
(such as VDD parallel large capacitor)
Hi support team.
I have a question setting of microstepping interpolation.
When microstep setting is 1/256, can interpolation level sets 1/256?
If no, what level can it be set?

Hi
Could you help to provide DRV8300DPWR
VS PT5619-tx difference comparison table
Dear TI Team,
We are facing problem during installation and after installation .
if we install set up then generate register writing problem . And we cant set any parameters.
Then i deleted and uninstalled usb to any and lab view software and again install .
But every time same issue observed.
so pls suggest, how to resolve .
Hello,
I am trying to make a PLL or syncronous speed controller for a BLDC motor.
Doing research I have stumbled upon: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua085/slua085.pdf
But however, all the parts are obsolute.
What is the modern way of making something equivalent of PLL motor speed control?
Can I use DRV8301 with the appropiate launchpad, and accomplish speed control of a bldc motor at 6000rpm.
The only requirement is that I spin the motor up as fast as I can up to 6000rpm and keep it.
Best Regards,
C.A.
